Conny Parsons presents a series of large oil paintings that are visually or physically split. Parsons references objects in and aspects of nature such as stones, earth, wind, air and water. Like or dissimilar natural objects are shifted or joined into a whole that is greater than the components. Like objects are repeated, reversed or misplaced. Dissimilar images are joined in a cohesive way through color, shapes, movement, transparency, and repetition. This series is about the continual change in the primitive, natural world. The artist allowed imagery to happen as she painted and playfully terms the resulting series as “Organized Chaos”. Parsons has a BS in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin and also studied Fine Art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and Graphic Design at the University of Minnesota and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She has taught art, worked in graphic design, illustration, and mural painting. She also works in mixed media, watercolor and mono print. Her work is in private collections throughout the United States.
