ABOUT US

Since its inception in 1978, 3rd Street Gallery has been an artist-run cooperative in Philadelphia. The gallery brings together past and new generations of independent artists, who actively create new work for the gallery's exhibitions. Splitting their time between their studios and the gallery, our member artists volunteer their efforts on the day-to-day business and logistical operations of the gallery that enables our cooperative to adapt to the ever-changing world of art.

3rd Street Gallery actively seeks to foster new and unique relationships between its artists and the public. It achieves this through participating in First Fridays, Philadelphia Open Studio Tours and by annually hosting open-invitations through its varied community-based exhibitions.

The foremost commitment of 3rd Street Gallery is to extend an awareness of and appreciation for fine art by engaging the public with insightful and challenging creative works, offered up in various medium, genres and styles. At 3rd Street Gallery, we continue to strive for quality and diversity in our artistic endeavors that not only allows for innovation, experimentation and risk, but also maintains the added responsibility of promoting the visual arts in the Philadelphia region.
