Jacquelyn Ferretti

My work is reflective of whatever image appears in my mind at any given moment.  I spend each morning devoted to roaming the city in search of urbanscapes to document random images and words seen and heard on the street. Only when these words and images — mental photos taken on my morning walks — are present in my mind do I begin to paint. While I paint mostly with oil, I use a variety of found objects and other materials either to paint upon or to incorporate into my art.  With a tactile approach, I paint layer upon layer, then scrape and gouge, leaving only what is necessary. In this way, I treat each painting like a piece of clay or marble about to reveal what lies beneath. Each memory is a moment unfolded. And each piece reflects that moment.
