R. DANIEL EVANS
My landscapes are narratives that reflect moods about places I love. The images of my landscapes come from the borderline land between the conscious and the subconscious, the poetic world of imagination.
I am a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
My acrylic paintings also reflect my interest in art history. I was an art history/ art major in college, and I’ve taught art history for over 40 years at Community College of Philadelphia. I am deeply concerned with the quirkiness of line and drawing, flat decorative patterns versus depth, and the illusions created by light. Above all, I am interested in creating new color combinations. All these elements coalesce into realms that I hope will stimulate the viewer’s imagination. If my paintings can induce viewers to question and wonder, then I have succeeded.
