The Gallery
The 3rd Street Gallery is located in Philadelphia's Old City surrounded by other galleries, steps away from the Arden Theater, nearby restaurants, coffee shops, and historic sites. The Gallery has been in existence for almost 40 years and has moved several times, thus its confusing address, 3rd Street Gallery on 2nd Street.
The Gallery has the largest window exposure of any business in Old City. Located at street level there is an uninterrupted view to the back wall 44 feet away. Two seven-feet-wide custom-built walls are movable, providing a number of ways to reconfigure the space. In running feet, there is 138 feet of space for hanging work on the walls. There is ample overhead room for tall sculptures or for hanging works.
The Gallery is air-conditioned, has a bathroom, a partially enclosed front office space, a private room at the rear of the gallery and storage in the basement. Walls are repaired and painted after each show.
The Gallery is available for evening rentals, for private parties, meetings, and fund-raisers. It is also possible to rent the space on days when the Gallery is closed and, depending on the Gallery schedule, may be leased for a month as a gallery venue.
