Old City Philadelphia is the country’s most historic square mile. The neighborhood was once a busy commercial waterfront district. By the 1970’s many of the industrial buildings and warehouses became artists’ lofts and an arts community began. Today Old City has the largest concentration of galleries in Philadelphia but is also home to restaurants, clothing and furniture stores, design showrooms, salons, boutiques coffee shops and residences. These and the number of museums and historic sites make Old City a popular part of the city in which to live, walk, dine and shop.
