Constance Cone

I have been a working artist since 1973.  During the first part of my career, I was a fine art photographer using large format cameras, making platinum and palladium prints (two non-silver processes).  In the late ‘80’s, I began working in more traditional media, eventually receiving my MFA in painting and printmaking.

While my photographs were still lives of landscapes, interiors or nudes, the newer work is primarily abstract.  After attending a perfomance of Britten’s “War Requiem” in 1994, being much taken with the Owens poems which were used as part of the text, I created a varied body of work based on the poetry of the British “Trench Poets.”

I have worked in oil, various printmaking media, and drawing.  For the last four years, landscape has provided most of my inspiration, as I continue to work in pastel.
