Carol Albrecht
There is always the color – everywhere. The chase begins as I strive to put down what I see - both near and far, intimate and expansive. A landscape teacher suggested that to start a painting, choose a logical place that seems right at that moment. This simple and direct advice has helped to push me through the hesitation, awe, and pleasure of starting a new painting. After a light pencil sketch, I begin the mixing and laying-in of color, working warm tones next to cool, increasing intensities, thinking transparency, opacity, darks and lights, and once in a while, when a few colors sing, my elation emerges.
