My imagery emerges from my fascination with paint and the creative process. I view each work as a journey into the unique mental space that is tapped through intuitive creative process. To that end I am exceedingly fascinated with the dialogue that emerges between the brain, the unconscious, and the material at hand.
This interest prompted my graduate work at Pratt Institute, where I explored the didactic reasons for these intuitive, creative processes, drawing heavily from psychoanalytic theory and expressive analysis.
I work in a variety of materials including oil and enamels on 3/4” maple plywood, and in watercolor, conte crayon, pastels, graphite and charcoal on vellum and rag papers.
