"Disappearing Landscapes" The artist’s paintings were inspired by her visits to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico over a period of five years. "Each time I returned, I saw new retirement condo developments encroaching, tipping the fragile balance of wildlife and ecology." Working in acrylics, as well as drawing on canvas in ink and charcoal, the artist says, “In the act of painting, I attempt to create a synthesis that finds beauty in the mundane. This for me is a hopeful act." A graduate of the Tyler School of Art, Malkasian-Weisberg studied painting in Rome, New Mexico, Mexico, and Greece
